Music

Our music class is called Bear Music and tackles the bare bones of music theory through games and songs.

Anna trained in the Colourstrings approach to musicianship and has now developed her own method and specialises in teaching young children and absolute beginners. These classes are a lot of fun and a constructive way of venting excess energy. Movement to music is an excellent aid to help young children improve their co-ordination and balance. It also helps them to understand the concepts of rhythm and pulse through making their movements express the beat of a song.

Our aims

  • Increasing accuracy when singing.
  • Understanding and feeling rhythm through the voice, movement and percussion.
  • Interpreting music through movement and imagination / stories.
  • Increasing musical expression when moving to music, singing and playing instruments.
  • To form a strong foundation from which a child could progress to learning a particular instrument.

We will also be learning about colours, shapes, numbers and counting, and phonics through music too.

The children use a wide range of percussion instruments and some tuned instruments to accompany traditional nursery rhymes from England and abroad, and contemporary children's songs and poetry. We will also be dancing and singing with the Three Bears!

Class Times

Bear Music classes are held in the Duck Room on Thursday afternoons - 12.30 to 3pm.
